Property Administration Intern

Scout Clean Energy is a leading U.S. renewable energy developer, owner and operator headquartered in Boulder, Colorado. Position Description

As Scout’s Property Administration Intern, you will help Scout deliver on its commitments to an important group of business partners: landowners. By effectively processing and tracking Scout’s lease agreements, you will help ensure the landowners are properly compensated over the life of our wind and solar projects.

You will serve as the point person for all administrative functions associated with this lease processing role. Your tasks will remain fairly consistent from day to day:

  • Review incoming leases for accuracy and organize the completed leases and all addenda for company officers’ signature.
  • Scan and save the signed leases using our online database software and to our online filing system.
  • Mail out the fully executed leases and recorded memos to landowners and file the original hard copies on site.
  • Distribute W9 and payment instruction documents to relevant internal parties.
  • Run monthly reports summarizing upcoming monthly payments and route to appropriate internal team members for approval.
  • Track lease terms and notify internal team members of upcoming lease expirations.
  • Coordinate with our Project Managers and Accounting teams to provide workflow updates and address any issues.
  • Conducting competitor research to support the development of renewable energy facilities and assist in other project development support roles, as requested.

During this stage of critical company growth, you will help identify ways to further enhance team efficiency. These improvements may be driven from your past experiences, your ability to connect with and solicit input from our team members, from research you do, and any other sources of inspiration.

Timeline and Location

The target start date for this role is mid-May 2021.

We anticipate a 40 hours-per-week commitment during the summer months. If the role is extended into the school year, weekly commitment can be adjusted when school starts again (if applicable to you). There is potential to transition this to a full-time position in the future.

The Property Administration Intern will be based in our Boulder, CO, office. While COVID restrictions are in place, you will be one of the few core team members who is in the office most days because this role involves handling documents received in hard copy from landowners. We have rigorous COVID safety protocols in place in order to protect the health and safety of our team. Once COVID restrictions are lifted, we will expect you to be in the office whenever you are performing your responsibilities for this role.

This mostly clerical position provides exposure to one key aspect of renewable energy project development and operation – landowner relations. It could be suited to someone who loves data entry or someone looking to get a foot in the door of the renewable energy industry. It requires a high capacity for work, a desire to help others succeed, and a facility with multiple technology platforms.

The successful candidate’s background will look something like this:

  • Willing to become a Notary Public and be able to become a Notary, if requested.
  • Demonstrated interest in and passion for renewable energy.
  • IT fluent with experience on various platforms. (Microsoft Office required. TeamDesk and preferred.)
  • Creative and resourceful approach to solving problems efficiently and effectively.
  • Detail-oriented self-motivator with exceptional organizational and communication skills.
  • Dynamic interpersonal skills with the ability to use influence rather than authority to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Ability to maintain information confidentiality and handle with discretion.
  • Ability to multi-task and arbitrate between conflicting priorities with clear target setting and follow- through capability in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
